Expressive Therapeutic Programmes are structured and designed to empower seniors in creating art, or learning a new music instrument, for personal development and self-expression, and to contribute a service to community.
Under the guidance of Art Therapists or Facilitors, the seniros learn art skills for emotional and therapeutic well-being. The programme also creates pportunities for more social interaction and creative play, hence enhancing the senior’s self-confidence and life satisfaction, another example of ageing well.
A total of 6 sessions are laid out with specific objectives and seniors get to make various forms of art in each session. There will be sharing of experience during class. Upon completion of the 6 sessions, participants are encouraged to continue the use of Open Studio to complete and artwork independently over the next few sessions. Eventually the independent artworks are invited to be showcased collaboratively in an art exhibition.
